Welcome to the personal site of Joe Nagle
Joe Nagle is an artist and author living in Dun laoghaire, Co. Dublin. He has a BA in Visual Arts Practice and an MA Art in the Contemporary World, and has exhibited at Pallas Contemporary Projects, Royal Ulster Academy of Art, ‘Sculpture in Context’ and others.
Joe’s art work is conceptually based, and tends to be layered with multiple meanings. At first glance the work looks lighthearted, with a wry sense of humour, but on closer observation the viewwer can uncover deeper meanings.
His main series is called Still Life: Still Living which deals with various aspects of Life and Death, and the Hereafter (if there is one!). He uses everyday objects, situations and some well-known artists’ works to create new works.
Joe is a member of Visual Artists Ireland and he works from his studio in BLOCK T, an award-winning not-for-profit creative organisation based in Smithfield, Dublin 7. It’s primary purpose is to serve as a catalyst for fine artists, creative individuals and organisations, working to foster, showcase and exchange Talent locally, nationally and internationally.
He has recently published a book on Contemporary Art entitled:
How to enjoy contemporary art: Some explanations to help you.
